What the Uruguayan state bought in 2021

In 2021, public procurement totalled $ 149.2 billion, an increase of 9.8% compared to 2020 in current pesos. Inflation accounted for $ 12.1 billion of this variation. Excluding inflation, real spending increased by 0.9%. The real variation of $ 333 million is explained not by increased spending, but by changes in coverage: 20 entities reported procurement in 2021 that had not done so in 2020, while 6 entities stopped reporting. A single contract, CONSTRUCCION DE CARRETERA (Dirección Nacional de Vialidad → GRUPO VIAL ORIENTAL UNO S.A, $ 14.1 billion), represents 11.3 times the real variation for the entire year.
