"I am fine, the country is not"
About their own life people answer from experience; about the country they answer from what reaches them mediated. The two answers always separate in the same direction, and in Uruguay the gap did not close: it widened from 31 points in 2013 to 46 in 2024. It means the question "are we worse off?" does not measure the life of whoever answers it.
Latinobarómetro on its own twenty-year series: "Latin Americans are all better off than they believe their countries are". In Uruguay: 81% satisfied with their life against 50% seeing the country progressing (2013); 87% against 41% (2024).
